The 13th Herpetological Association of Africa conference took place at Bonamanzi Game Reserve, Kwa-Zulu Natal January 23rd-27th 2017.

This year’s conference was dedicated to the life of Zimbabwean Herpetologist Dr Donald Broadley (1932 – 2016), who played a leading role in the establishment of the Herpetological Association of Africa, and who contributed extensively to the body of knowledge and scientific literature on African herpetofauna.

Various presentations and talks were done over the 5 days, from renowned Herpetologists from around the world attendees such as
Johan Marias, Wolfgang Wüster, Werner Conradie, Bryan Maritz, Francois Theart, James Harvey, Jeanne Tarrant, Krystal Tolley Marius Burger and Graham Alexander

To mention a few. Including student presentations from around South Africa. There were around 130 delegates who attended this years conference many first-time attendees and of course long standing members of the association.

During the summer months Northern Kwa-Zulu Natal is a mecca for a wide variety of reptiles and amphibians, Bonamanzi is no exception.
